🙌🙌🙌 Friday Wins 🙌🙌🙌

One of the best parts of the week is hearing what patients have been able to get back to doing.

Not big headlines.
Just normal life again.

This week we’ve seen people:

🏋️ got back to the gym
🚶‍♂️ met friends for a walk
💻 sat at my desk without pain
🏃 ran 5k again
😴 slept through the night
⛳ played golf again

These are the moments that matter.

Small notes on the board…
but big wins for the people behind them 💚

Have a great weekend everyone ☀️

Stepping Back in Time at Barrington Drive

Stepping Back in Time at Barrington Drive

It felt like stepping back in time.

Last week, in the middle of a busy clinic day, four osteopathy students stood quietly observing.

Patients arriving.
Doors opening.
Conversations unfolding.
Decisions being made in real time.

And it reminded us of something.

Barrington Drive wasn’t always just a clinic.

Decades ago, it was a place of learning.
A training institution.

Standing there last week… it felt like it had become one again.

Learning in Real Life

For those students, this wasn’t about textbooks.

It was about seeing what really happens.

The moments you can’t teach:

  • When a patient walks in unsure… and leaves with clarity
  • When a plan changes… because it needs to
  • When experience guides the next step

They saw more than treatment.

They saw thinking.

Why one person progresses quickly.
Why another takes time.
Why the right decision isn’t always the obvious one.

A Legacy That Continues

Welcoming Our 2026 Osteopathy Interns to Cram Osteopaths

Welcoming Our 2026 Osteopathy Interns to Cram Osteopaths

Next week we are pleased to welcome our 2026 internship group to Cram Osteopaths for a week of clinical observation and learning at our clinic.

Our internship programme gives osteopathy graduates and final-year students the opportunity to spend time in a busy clinical environment, observing consultations, treatment approaches and patient care within an established practice.

During their week with us the interns will gain insight into:

• Osteopathic assessment and treatment
• Clinical reasoning and patient management
• Shockwave therapy and spinal decompression (IDD Therapy)
• How a busy clinical practice operates day to day

We are always delighted to support the next generation of osteopaths and share the experience of our team.

If you happen to see our interns in the clinic next week, please do say hello.

🚨 What an air raid siren taught me about pain

You may not have met me yet, but I am Michael, part of the clinical team here at Cram Osteopaths, working alongside Alex.

Last week on holiday in Poland, we had just come in from a full day skiing in Białka Tatrzańska ⛷️

It was around 9pm.
Thermals off.
Tea made ☕
Winter Olympics on.

All very calm…

Until suddenly…

🚨 An air raid siren started blaring across the city

And if you have never heard one before, it is not subtle.

Within seconds:

💓 Heart rate up
😮‍💨 Breathing quicker
👀 Everyone looking at each other

“Is this real?”
“Should we be doing something?”
“Do we have a bunker?”

The nervous system had clearly decided this was not the time to relax.

(It turned out to be a scheduled test… which would have been useful to know about in advance.)

But what struck me most was how immediate the response was.

➡️ The body moved straight into protection mode

This is exactly what happens when pain suddenly appears.

Pain has its own alarm system 🚨

It can come on loudly, suddenly an...

🦴 The History of Cram Osteopaths

Norman Cram The Beginning 1946

Cram Osteopaths was founded in 1946 by Norman Cram, at a time when osteopathy was still relatively unknown in Scotland.

Norman established the practice with a clear philosophy:
to treat patients thoroughly, honestly, and with respect for how the whole body functions as a unit.

Working in post war Britain, he treated many people whose livelihoods depended on physical work and who required practical, hands on care to restore movement and function.

From its earliest days, the practice built a strong reputation through results and word of mouth. Norman’s approach was calm, methodical and patient focused, values that became embedded in the clinic and continue to influence how care is delivered today.

What he created was not simply a clinic, but a standard:
careful assessment, thoughtful treatment, and long term responsibility to patients and community.
